Hi, I’m Michael (he/him). I live with my wonderful partner and ginger cat in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. During the week I serve full-time as a union organiser and I get out as often as I can to build on my various projects or document the day to day wonders or happenings around me.
I attended Fine Art Photography at RMIT University and Photoimaging at NMIT Tafe. My image work is mostly comprised of photography using digital cameras with minimal or no alteration, this is sometimes combined with interviews or audio.
Through my work, I seek to bring attention to the hidden, forgotten or increasingly overlooked humanity and wonders in our everyday surroundings. In freezing everyday, accessible scenes I hope to allow you to consider them without distraction so that the world becomes a fuller more meaningful place.
Questions
Do I sell prints?
I accept applications for prints on a case by case basis.
Get in touch via the menu with the name of the work(s) you want a print of, you’ll find the name as a caption under the image. Also let me know if they’ll be used for personal or a business. If for a business please include a link to your business so I can ensure our values align.
The prints are up to 18×12 inches and created on Hahnemühle Natural Agave 290gsm fine art paper with a 1/4 inch (~6mm) white border. I accept bank transfer, PayID, or credit/debit cards via PayPal as payment methods. Pay-in-4 may also be available via PayPal to eligible users.
A note on prints: Prints are available only for images without clearly identifiable people (silhouettes, blurred faces, and backs are fine). Portraits with recognisable people may appear in zines/books, contact me for availability.
Do I have socials?
Yes, you’re welcome to follow my Instagram.
Why do I do a free raffle?
I am always exploring the ways that I can give back to the communities I photograph in. The raffle is one way I’m exploring that. The raffle is available to those I have met in person and given a card to. If that’s you, scan the QR code and follow the prompts to enter.
Do I use A.I. in any photos?
No.
Am I open to collaborations?
Yes absolutely, reach out with your thoughts for the project via the contact details in the menu.
What is the street library project?
Street libraries are community organised free curbside libraries. They operate on the honour system, there’s no card, no membership, just people creating the world they want to see.
In line with my desire to make photography more accessible and away from algorithms I am distributing copies of my photo zines to these.
If you would like to help, you can make a one off or ongoing donation from a little or a lot here. I also post photos of me putting the project into action there as well.
Are you in one of my online photos?
It’s such a pleasure to cross paths with you again. If you are in the photo reach out as I’d be delighted to say hi and offer you a 6×4 inch print of the photo you are in. It might make a nice gift for family or friends.
